…Okay, given that I know zero Chinese, this looks weirdly like Kuroh having some flashback to a previous life where he was Nezumi or something and now I REALLY want to know what they’re saying. Anyone? Bueller?
Hi fencer, sorry for being away for tumblr for some time. Mmm… finally a manga panel that I can actually translate!
1: How can Shion die, he is after all our king.
2: We will definitely meet again. (Is it weird that when I read that I almost hear it in Japanese? >.< 絶対また会える。)
5: We will definitely see each other again. (Different kanji but it’s the same meaning. Note that when Nezumi said it, the connotations is more romantic than the expression which Neko used if you wanna get down to the differences. Think of it as perhaps 必ずまた逢えるよ。)
6: This is strange… why am I crying?
Okay so I probably need to do some further explanation because there’s some idea on the Buddhist concept of reincarnation which tends to be a familiar trope in Chinese and Japanese culture: It starts of Neko and Kuro are at that canon scene in the episode 13 where Kuroh and Neko and talking about how Shiro will not die. When Neko talked about how we will definitely meet Shiro again, something resonated in Nezumi.
It turns out that Kuro and Shiro are Nezumi and Shion from some lifetimes ago and that moment when Neko said “we will definitely meet again”, it stirred something within Nezumi/Kuro, a distant memory from his previous lifetime that he himself, said the exact thing to Shiro/Shion.
And then, without understanding it consciously, he cried.
